Share Your World With Cee Cee 2013 Week 5

Some fun questions from Cee this week.

Are you a morning or night person?

I tend to be more of a midday person myself. The dogs get me up at 5:30 A.M. but I am seldom happy about it. Conversely,  when  I try to stay up until midnight my head usually goes numb by 10 P.M. and my speech is slurring once I get past 11.

What is your preferred hot drink: coffee, tea, water or other?

Oh, coffee is my drink of choice no doubt. The stronger the better. My sister sent me some yummy Dutch coffee. Can’t wait to get back to drinking that.

What was your favorite toy as a child  . . .  and now?

I loved those little plastic dinosaurs. I had a whole set that I would play pretend prehistory with. Other than that I didn’t play too much with toys. My sister had a lot of toys. I got mad at her once and went around the neighborhood selling them to the neighbors for candy money. It was a great plan until I got caught.

If you had a choice which would be your preference salt water beaches, fresh water lakes, hot tub, ski resort or desert?

I personally love the idea of a hot tub at the beach. It goes along well with my bucket list item of riding a horse in the surf.

🙂

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Wood

I decided this week I would try the Foto Challenge as well as Share Your World:

So here goes wood!

Share Your World With Cee Cee 2013 Week 4

This week Cee asks:

Almost everyone has heard of a bucket list which is a list of things you want to do before you die.  List 4 things off your bucket list that you would like to share with us.  Assume that money is no object.  Have a lot of fun with it.  Would you like to fly to the moon, dive to the bottom of the ocean, live a month in India or learn how to tap dance?  What is on your list?

Oooode lawly (sound it out)…this is a good one!

Here are my four things:

1.horse on beachI want to be this guy! I would love to ride a horse in the warm surf on a tropical island. It seems like this would make for some great thinking time. First, though, I guess I should learn how to ride a horse. I imagine adding waves and shifting sand to horseback riding doesn’t make the task easier…hmmm.

2. I would like to take a month and seal myself away hereOld Cabin in the woods, Los Arrayanes National Park, Peninsula de Quetrihue, Neuquen, Argentina, South Americaor herecabin-on-the-lake-2or hereMt Cabinto write a novel. Just me plenty of food and drink and a type writer. Sounds heavenly!

3. Before I go on to glory I hope to visit each of my children at their respective mission stations around the globe. Of course before that happens they have to graduate from college, pay off loans and obtain  missions stations. Soon and very soon! Two of them graduate this spring.

4. Finally on today’s bucket list of four things, I would like to have dinner with the Kennedys. My grandfather had dinner with both Robert and John F ( that was when they were all in state politics here in MA). My father had his picture taken with JFK before he was President. I would like to keep the tradition alive.

Share Your World Withh Cee Cee 2013: Week 3

I am going to have some fun with these questions because my straight on answers would be much too short and boring. Hope ya don’t mind.

Is your hair short (total neck and ear showing), medium (covering ears and neck), long (below shoulders) or extra long (at least halfway down your back)?

I keep my hair short because long hair makes me look goofy. It use to be, before I started going bald, that my hair would get big and poofy when it got long. Now that I’m losing my hair, it looks like I’m trying to create a comb over. So when my hair gets too long I have to cover it up like this.

I'm the one in blue.

I’m the one in blue.

or this:

I've had to borrow this one before when my hair got too big.

I’ve had to borrow this one from my daughter before when my hair got too big.

Yeah…not goofy at all.

What is your favorite color of hair?  You can name your hair color or a color that you just like.

I love auburn hair, But not on me, because I’m balding now. Auburn hair on my head just makes me look like I’ve got a stringy sunburn.

Which bad habits, if any, drive you crazy?

Ummm…all bad habits drive me crazy because they are by definition bad and I am sworn to dislike bad things. It’s in the Pastor contract. You can look it up. 😉

What are some of your favorite type of proteins to eat? (meat, eggs, soy, cheese, nuts).

I just discovered Quinoa! Have you ever had it? It’s so yummy!

That is the wrong way to say it.

This is the right way to say it.

Just in case you were wondering.

Thanks Cee for these really fun questions!

First Forray 2013

A few years back God told me I would be doing some travelling. He told me with every journey I was to seek His purpose in it.

The girls and I left the frosted state of MA

The girls and I left the frosted state of MA

This week my daughters and I traveled to PA to visit my son.

100_1018

Our purpose was to reconnect with each other…and to catch up on some long neglected reading. I think I read about a hundred blogs!

100_1028

We arrived late Sunday night; So after a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast the girls and I met up with Joe at his campus and headed out to…

100_1032The Shady Maple! My son was soooo happy to see my daughters.

100_1037Joe has become quite a young man. I am proud of him! Part of our reconnect on this brief journey was to find out his plans after graduation. It is hard to believe he is just short months away from that date and from the title Pastor Joe.

Here are some of our other pictures from that trip:

Share Your World 2013 Week 2

Here are Cee Cee’s four questions for the second week of 2013. I am writing from the overstuffed chair in my hotel room while my daughter’s nap after a long day of sightseeing. I have some great pictures coming your way soon from the wonderful state of PA!

What is your favorite color? I would like to say my favorite color is blue. That seems like it should be the right answer. But when I really think about my go-to colors for clothing I have to accept the fact that my favorite colors are black or brown…no not even truly brown more of a rust or burnt sienna. 🙂

Favorite thing to photograph? Write? Or Cook? My favorite person to write about is Jesus and my favorite thing to cook is kielbasa casserole. Those two things are pretty much mutually exclusive (although I suppose if I had Jesus over for dinner I would serve him kielbasa casserole). So except for here you will probably never see the two things mentioned together again in a blog.

Name two of your best personality traits. Well let’s see… everyone except my children tells me that I am a pretty patient guy. I do believe strongly that good things come to those who wait. I also believe that we can solve a lot of our problems by sitting down and thinking things through patiently before acting; So I guess I would agree patience is one of my strong points. I think a second strong point is my ability to reason out problems. I am someone who likes to mull things over and think things through. I don’t like to react emotionally (for that reason I suppose some people think of me as cold). I think, though, that my ability to respond thoughtfully rather than react emotionally is another strength I possess.

What word or words are fun for you to say? And yes Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious counts as a fun word! The word “copious” is a huge favorite…but if truth be told I like the word “verisimilitude” more.

Share Your World With Cee Cee Pt. 36

Here are our first question from Cee for the New Year! Happy 2013 everyone.

Do you prefer shopping or going to a park?

It totally depends on the store and the park. If we are comparing clothes shopping with going to say Six Flags well then I choose Six Flags. But if we are talking about going to shop at Barnes& Nobles or going for a long walk in our local Cogshall Park, I’m heading for the book store with a Starbucks in it. 🙂

Music or silence while working?

I love listening to instrumental piano music while I am working. I usually keep my internet station turned to “Whisperings”.

If you could have three wishes granted for you alone, what would they be?

OK these are not in any particular order.

I wish that my book would be miraculously published becoming and instant best seller.

I wish I was completely delivered from all my fears.

I wish I was perfect.

Are you a collector of anything?

I collect all kinds of things: books, Bibles, walking sticks, dishes, memorabilia from my trips.

Share Your World With Cee Cee Pt. 35

I am so grateful to be able to come away from the work for a bit and just answer some simple questions. It has been a rather heady week and my mind is still spinning. Thank you Cee for giving me these queries to kind of bring me back to a normal space. It means more than you know.

  • Do you make New Year’s resolutions, or not?  If so, what one have you made and kept from the past?  I don’t usually make New Year’s resolutions as such. But our church has 21 days of fasting and prayer starting at the beginning of every year and I feel like these are times to gather direction from God about what I am to do in the year to come. I suppose the result is the same except if I don’t do what is set out from the fast I kind of feel it’s not just me I’m letting down but God. MAybe that’s better incentive 🙂
  • Do you prefer Nuts or no Nuts?  Depends what it is in. I like nuts in my brownies and they are pretty good on Sundaes but I’m not a big fan of the nut sauce they make for spaghetti (pesto). But maybe you were referring to the emotional kind of nuts? Some days I feel a little nuts and I like that less than pesto. 😉
  • Do you like winter, or not, and why? I love winter. It’s going outside during winter that I abhor.
  • Do you prefer to receive gifts or give them? I like giving and receiving but I love gifts that have a purpose… things I can use and I like to give gifts that others find useful.
