Well here are the questions I have asked so far on this Spiritual journey:
1.What is your Jericho? What walls do you need the Lord to knock down? I made a long list of Jerichos in my life…things I needed God’s help with. I drew them into a thought web and put it on my office wall and have been praying over it every day.
Testimony: One of those items involved a phone call I was dreading having to make. It meant giving a friend some bad news as part of a larger work. I prayed into it for two days and made the phone call last night. Praise God He went before me as I asked and met the need and turned the bad news into OK news! I’ll take it!
2.What has to happen for you to face your Jerichos…your life circumstances with greater boldness? I still don’t know the answer to this question. I think maybe a deeper faith has to be birthed in me and an understanding of this quote in my life
3. What will your dreams cost? Are you ready to pay the price? I started answering this in yesterday’s post. I think a big portion of this spiritual journey is going to be about overcoming my fear of man and my fear of failure in the eyes of man.
4. What do you have to say “no” to today in order to say “yes” to God?
I started this list during our all day of prayer. I have three items on it and I know God is going to have me look deeper into this.
Who in your life is your “Sanballat and Tobiah”. Who intimidates you? What can you do about it? This item definitely needs more prayer I think and action plan is in the making
Here are some quotes from service today:
“Don’t let your budget determine your dream” Pastor Brad Hackett
“To often we say ‘What if God doesn’t?’ but what if He does?” Pastor Brad Hackett
“If we seek answers we may never find them but if we seek God the answers will find us.” Pastor Brad Hackett
“Sometimes the problem is we are not willing to let God perplex us.”
Which of these quotes speaks most to you?
“If we seek answers…” –that one.
When I heard that one it hit me like a ton of bricks!
“Sometimes the problem is we are not willing to let God perplex us.” This one is speaking to me today.
This one I have to admit frightens me a little bit.
Thanks Pastor, I am thoroughly enjoying and being moved by your sharing of this journey. Interesting that in each of the first five steps it seemed finances or cleaving to a paycheck was an immediate impression. Then the very first quote from Pastor Hackett was “Don’t let your budget determine your dream.” I pray to follow God’s plan to watch that wall crumble at His sound. Also loved the fact that in seeking God the answers will find us. Just seeking Him. Thank you so much!
PRaise God Tom! I am so glad this series has been speaking to you. The journey has been exhilarating
It was the answers one for me too! 🙂 Thank you, Pastor J, and praying for you. This is tough stuff . ..but we have a big God. God bless you!
He is larger than we can know…and what we know is pretty big!
“If we seek answers we may never find them but if we seek God the answers will find us.”
Seeking God is the answer to any problem.
It is indeed and isn’t it amazing that when we seek Him all kinds of blessings follow?
“Sometimes the problem is we are not willing to let God perplex us.” – sometimes my need to know or understand can be a challenge, but once I bury it under the scriptures related to trusting God, then I enter His rest……..until it rises again and I have to bury it again………:)
yes indeed Kim. There are so many things I am questioning and God has let me know that He is not going to answer me right now. So I praise Him in perplexity!
I’ve had to learn that also Pastor “J”…..Pastor Joel Osteen recommends that we create an “I Don’t Understand It” file and just put some things away in there until God is ready to deal with them…….if He decides to…..:)
I have one of those Kim! It’s called my “We’ll see…” file.
Another perplexed vote – thankful to be perplexed but not in despair instead of frustrated or confused – because trusting in Him doesn’t not mean all answers are easy, immediate or completely understood. thank you for sharing such great questions!
Many things perplex me. Yet I am peace in the perplexity simply because I know God knows right where we are together! Further He is going to see me on down the road. 🙂
