“When Solomon finished making these prayers and petitions to the LORD, he stood up in front of the altar of the LORD, where he had been kneeling with his hands raised toward heaven. He stood and in a loud voice blessed the entire congregation of Israel:” I Kings 8:54,55
In our last “Heaven” post we left Solomon on his knees with his hands stretched out to Heaven asking for God’s blessing. We’ve left him there for a long time and its high time we got back to these Heaven posts on a more regular basis. 🙂
The take away from today’s verse for me is that there must come a time when we finish with our praying and we get up and do something, even if that is only to get out-of-the-way.
Don’t get me wrong, I am a firm believer in praying through. In most cases we don’t pray enough. Then in other situations we fall to our knees when the time for praying has come and gone and it’s time to act.
The truth is we ought to be praying the blessing of our God upon our days before they even begin. Then as our days happen we can act in cooperation with the Holy Spirit confident of the fact that God is going to move on our behalf.
There’s a time for everything. There is a time to pray. There is a time to finish our praying and a time to get up and move in the faith we have prayed forth.
How do you know when your praying is complete and it’s time to act?
Oh, I forgot about the Heaven posts! Thanks for continuing this series. God bless you, Pastor J!
I almost forgot about them myself Deb! They sort of got buried for a while.
How do you know when your praying is complete and it’s time to act? A lot of time the Holy Spirit prompts me over and over until the only thing I can do is act. God usually gives me confirmation from unexpected situations or people. I love this series so glad we have come back to it for my eyes are fixed on heaven with great anticipation!
I am glad as well Deb! I’m with you. I am seeking to make my reaction times quicker in the days ahead.
WOW, this is so powerful and timely for me. I love the posture and the purpose of these words. Blessings and God’s perfect timing! The Spirit of Truth let’s us know it is time doesn’t He?! It is time.
HE does make the time known to us Tom! May God bless you as you move in your times.

Food for thought…
Blessings and thanks for sharing,

May God bless you as you chew Ann! 🙂
If I hear Him speak, I’m up and moving–seems simple enough, though I don’t claim to be 100% attentive. God bless you and the fam–love, sis Caddo
This is always my plan to. Sometimes though I have to admit I’m a little slow on the buy-in with some of the things HE asks of me. 🙂

To quote another post . . . ‘when the mountain moves’
Seriously, I’ve found that God lets us know when to pray, when to move and how to move – and enables and empowers us to do so.
It is in following His lead and direction…trusting that HE will close an door we move towards by mistake and leave open any door which He intends as right for us. Pray until faith is formed then move!
