Pastor Wrinkles: The Glory Of Story Pt. 7

We have made two points through the preceding posts about God’s glorious story called Earth:

1. God is the central figure and hero of His story

2. He has chosen you and me to be important character in the story. We have important parts to play.

But there is a third point in all this…

You must intentionally choose to carry out your part of the story and there is a price you have to pay for your part.

Poet, Edgar A. Guest wrote
You are the person who has to decide. Whether you’ll do it or toss it aside; you are the person who makes up your mind. Whether you’ll lead or will linger behind. Whether you’ll try for the goal that’s afar. Or just be contented to stay where you are.

Have you made a decision to play the part God has given you? Have you estimated the cost of that part yet?

“If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. 27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? 29 For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you,30 saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’

31 “Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won’t he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace. 33 In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples. Luke 14: 26-33 NIV

  1. It is definitely my intention to play the part God has for me and as for the price? I guess it would be that I have lost a few of my sisters’ friendships they still love me but they just don’t want to be friends. God’s plan is greater than earthly friendships and never unestimate the power of prayer. My hope is that one day they will come to know my Lord as their friend. A-men!

    • I think the loss of relationship is perhaps one of the greatest costs to bear in this walk. So many other things seem to be connected to them. PRaying for you as you walk through these losses. Remember noone who has given up houses or lands or mother or father, sisters or brothers will fail to gain more in the Father’s kingdom. Our reward will be great!

  2. It is all about Him and it is all His work . . . but it is all about whether or not I follow. He has a plan for me, but it is up to me whether or not I choose to fall in with His plan.

Counted the cost? Yes, there is a cost, but we can never be the LOSER when we follow Him and His plan. He gives and gives and gives again and we are blessed out of His abundance.

We serve an incredibly amazing God who loves us with an everlasting love and whose only desire is for our best.
