Pastor Wrinkles: The Glory Of Story Pt. 5

We have been talking about how all the world is the playing out of the  story  God. . I have been making the point that God is the central figure and hero of all of our stories whether we recognize it or not; But there is more you need to know…

                God would have you know that He has made you an important character in His story.

While the story is about God, while He is the hero and central character, while He is the bridegroom, HE has created us to be important players in the carrying out of that story. In the Bible He has called those who believe the Bride of Christ.

Listen to what His word says about you:

When I consider your heavens,
    the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
    which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
    human beings that you care for them?

You have made them a little lower than the angels
    and crowned them with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
    you put everything under their feet:
all flocks and herds,
    and the animals of the wild,
the birds in the sky,
    and the fish in the sea,
    all that swim the paths of the seas.

Lord, our Lord,
    how majestic is your name in all the earth! Psalm 8:3-9 NIV

In another place it says this:

You have searched me, Lord,
    and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
    you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
    you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
    you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
    and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
    too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit?
    Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
    if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
    if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
    your right hand will hold me fast.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
    and the light become night around me,”
12 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
    the night will shine like the day,
    for darkness is as light to you.

13 For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them,
    they would outnumber the grains of sand—
    when I awake, I am still with you. Psalm 139:1-18

If all this is true how can we think of ourselves as unimportant or worthless?

  1. I don’t think that way as much as I used to–I know God didn’t do all He has done in my life, if (I) it were inconsequential. God bless you and the fam–love, sis Caddo

    • Amen Sis! God is changing all our hearts by increments isn’t He? Like you I struggle less with inadequacy than I used to but I am still a work in progress! 🙂 Blessings received. Thank you!

  2. Oh, Pastor J I cannot explain what my heart is feeling. It is almost like my heart is ready to burst with such anticipation of the day our Lord’s return. I have such comfort knowing He knows me inside and out and yet He still loves me no matter what! Thank you, Lord for forgiving my sins and holding me close to your heart!

  3. “If all this is true how can we think of ourselves as unimportant or worthless?”
    Depends on Who/whom I’m listening to I think.
    “For what you see and hear depends a good deal on where you are standing: it also depends on what sort of person you are.” C.S. Lewis

  4. And for this I rejoice continually! The Maker, Creator, all loving, all powerful, all merciful, long suffering and yet greatly to be feared is our Abba Father. It literally “blows my mind and takes my breathe away” each day I awake and KNOW how He loves me (us)!!
    Praise Him from whom all blessings flow…

    • Isn’t it awesome to know we are playhing an integral role in the building of His kingdom. Though we don;t always see it or understand it, yet we are part of it. His hand guides even in our lack of understanding. Jesus give us salve for our eyes so that we might see!

  5. “If all this is true how can we think of ourselves as unimportant or worthless?”
    I don’t. Not anymore. Not since I know that He knows when I sit, and rise, and sleep – and what troubles I invite upon myself in between – yet He loves me still!!

    So, yeah…I am my beloved’s and He is mine. I am loved and highly favoured. I am blessed. I am treasured. I am special. I am His!!!

    Blessings and thanks for sharing, Pastor J.

    Blessed beyond belief,
    ann

  6. I will never, in this life, understand WHY or HOW God could love me and draw me to Himself and adopt me into His own family and continue His work in me . . . but I experience the REALITY of His love and care and I praise Him for it.

    God freely gave His own most precious Son for me. God poured out His wrath on my sin in His Son for me.

    I must be very precious to Him, because He paid such an enormous price for me. Why me? I don’t know. I just bask in His love, mercy and grace and His abundant blessings.

    What an incredibly amazing God!
    What a privilege to be His blood-bought, adopted child!
