Quotes Pt. 23

I see three common traits in the people we hold up as heroes: unusual ability, unflagging commitment and undeniable weakness. For these reasons we like our heroes to be kept on television or in a book. Shutting them off or putting them on the shelf is easier than living with great talent and unwavering tenacity mixed with the stuff of human frailty! JE Lillie

Pastor Wrinkles: Chapter Charts Pt. 123

I used a quote from Mark Batterson in yesterday’s post “We want to do amazing things. That’s not our job. Our job is to consecrate ourselves. Then God will do amazing things among us.” If you missed it check out the other great things Mark has said at https://jelillie.wordpress.com/2012/11/09/quotes-pt-22/?preview=true

It strikes me that one reason we don’t want to consecrate ourselves is because anyone can do it. Surely if Samuel as a child could do it then it stands to reason that you and I can do it with or without our talents, abilities and certainly without our pride…Ahh there it is. Consecration means putting aside our pride. Here is what else I see in today’s chapters.

I Samuel chapter 3 sermon topics/titles:

1. Being Blind In the Flesh and the Spirit: I Sam. 3:1-2

2. Endangered Counted Innocent: I Sam. 3:3

3. The Scary Word of God: I Sam. 3:10-18

I Samuel chapter 4 sermon topics/titles:

1. On Putting Your Faith In Relics: I Sam. 4:1-11

2. The Blind Man’s Focus: I Sam. 4:12-18

3.  Has the Glory Departed? I Sam. 4: 21-22

Can you come up with more sermon ideas for these chapters? 🙂
