I see three common traits in the people we hold up as heroes: unusual ability, unflagging commitment and undeniable weakness. For these reasons we like our heroes to be kept on television or in a book. Shutting them off or putting them on the shelf is easier than living with great talent and unwavering tenacity mixed with the stuff of human frailty! JE Lillie
I used a quote from Mark Batterson in yesterday’s post “We want to do amazing things. That’s not our job. Our job is to consecrate ourselves. It strikes me that one reason we don’t want to consecrate ourselves is because anyone can do it. Surely if Samuel as a child could do it then it stands to reason that you and I can do it with or without our talents, abilities and certainly without our pride…Ahh there it is. Consecration means putting aside our pride. Here is what else I see in today’s chapters.
