Heaven Pt. 68

“They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.” Judges 5:20 KJV

Sisera was an enemy of God’s people. His armies were defeated by the Israelites led by one woman (Deborah). He died at the hands of another woman (Jael) while he was taking a nap.

It has been my experience that those who line themselves up against the Lord never end well. Though they make great boasts for a while and even have some success for a season, they are ultimately brought to nothing by the hand of Divine Providence.

Stories like the one from Judges chapter 5 remind me that I serve a God of omnipotent resources. While His enemies might appear powerful they cannot keep pace with the mighty hand of God! They are more to be pitied than feared, more to be prayed for than hated. Any pain they might be able to bring me will be repaid by the God who is my shield and protector. Perhaps it was for this reason that Jesus counselled “Love your enemies… and pray for those who despitefully use you.” Ma. 5:44

Let’s Pray: Father you know those in my life who stand opposed to You and to your work in my life. Father I bring them before You today and ask that You would have mercy on them. Please transform their hearts. Change them from enemies of the cross into mighty saints of God. In Jesus name I pray A-men!

  1. Thank you, Pastor J for this prayer today. I am praying right along side of you in this prayer. May those we are praying for have a revelation in their hearts today to who you are Lord. A-men!!!

  2. The Lord bless you my brother. The thought came to me, taken from your post here, “he died while taking a nap!”… Theres a message there.
    My brother You’re a blessing
    Paul

  3. It is hard for us – we who have had God fight our battles for us, and have known the abundant life He gives – to understand how anyone can fight against God. Of course, when we remember back to when we didn’t know Him, we can relate . . . and we praise God yet again for the great CHANGE He brought about in our lives, and for the way He sustains us.

    What an amazing God!

  4. I join you in this prayer and I also pray that God would humble me and give me wisdom and love for my enemies…..

      • I admit I never used to understand the concept….but I figure if Jesus was willing to die for his enemies..then the least I could do is love mine…..
