“and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity. But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand. So they saw God, and they ate and drank.” Ex. 24:10,11 NKJV
When God destroyed the world by flood in the time of Noah, He also destroyed a part of the creation know as the firmament. Many believe that the firmament was what allowed men to live such long lives before the flood. It’s removal then became the shortening agent God used to fix the times of men at 120 years.
Those who believe the firmament was destroyed during the flood also believe that our ozone layer is what is left of that great barrier. It is that which turns our sky blue. Perhaps it is also that which the Israelite elders saw separating them and protecting them from God as they approached Him on Mt. Sinai.
They needed that sapphire barrier whatever it was because their bodies couldn’t withstand the brunt of glory. Even Moses was told he could not see the face of God and live. Yet Because of his life of faithfulness God allowed Moses to see “the goodness” pass before Him. That experience left him literally glowing for weeks.
We were singing a song in church this morning called “Shekinah Glory”. The song is a prayer asking for the fullness of God’s presence to come and reveal Himself. As I sang I pondered this verse. I kept asking myself, “What would really happen if the Shekinah glory suddenly showed up in church on Sunday morning? Would I glow? Or would I just turn into a pile of dust?”
I am reminded that there is a work God is doing in me to make me ready for that day when I shall see God as He really is! Oh God make me ready!
Let’s pray: God I am reminded that everything about me is too weak and feeble right now to ever measure up to your glory. I thank you that You are not going to leave me this way. God I open myself for more of Your preparatory work. Make me ready for the day I shall see you! In Jesus name A-men.
I am praying this prayer as well and that I never stop preparing for the day I shall see Him. It’s like as the weeks go by the anticipation of that day just keeps growing stronger and stronger. Oh, how my heart longs to see Him. Thank you, Pastor J for your words speak to my heart so deeply. Thank you, God for using Pastor J and this blog to touch so many.
Thanks Deb! I like you cannot wait to see Him as He is. I am so thankful that He answers our prayers to be made ready!
Thanks for sharing, Pastor J
Beautiful post and prayer.
“God I open myself for more of Your preparatory work. ”
Praying alongside you today. May I truly trust His hand as He prepares me for Heaven!
That trust is the key isn’t it Ann? Sometimes even though I know this is all His “training for reigning” I still get a little frightened and doubtful. Oh how I need His hand to guide me!
Dear friend – You’re already glowing. 😀
I love your prayer. I’m praying it with you, even now.
I’m thinking of Sis Caddo, Debbie! Maybe Pastor J could share that Shekinah song with us? 🙂
Deb – Oh, me, too! First thing! 😉
I must learn about this Sis Caddo! Here is the link to that song
Thanks Deb! May the glory increase from both of our lives! 🙂
So glad He is not going to leave me this way, but continue working in me. God bless you, Pastor J, as He prepares you for all His desires!
Thanks Deb! The preparatory work is good if sometimes painful! 🙂
Challenging! Although we delight in His presence and enjoy rich fellowship with Him, what a fearsome thought it is to be in the VERY presence of God! The ONLY mitigation is the fact that He will see me through the righteousness of Christ, with which He has clothed me. What a day that will be! Until then, He will continue His work in me.
What an amazing God!
Hi Pastor J,
I’m so glad I stopped by today! Wow! To experience His Shekinah Glory in its fullness? I can’t even imagine! The song is wonderful! This post was a continuation of yesterday’s Praise and Worship Session! Glory to God! May the essence of His presence wash over you, over and over again!
Thanks Paulette! His Shekinah is coming down upon His church I just know it! May we be ever ready!
