We have been talking about the F.L.A.C.T.S. these last few days. That is coming to God through:
Faith with a
Listening spirit
Adoring God before everything else
Confessing both the strengths and weaknesses of our situation
Thanking Him for His move in our lives as we recognize it and finally
Supplicating with the Lord in regards to the things HE wants to give us.
Today we come to the part of effective praying which involves the adoration of God.
Much of the prayer life should be consumed with worshipping God and coming to an attitude in which He is more important than everything else. The substance of adoration is making God more important than every other thing in life. And here are some practical steps to achieving that place of worship:
1. As you begin your prayer session turn on praise music and sing along. Think about what the words mean. Which words strike a chord with you? Repeat those words several times taking them deep into your soul.
2. As you listen to the music begin to make up your own words of praise to God. It is awesome to sing someone else’s music to the Lord but even more amazing when you make up your own melodies to Jesus. They don’t have to be profound they just have to be yours.
3. Take one of the positive Psalms and personalize it. Psalm 23 is great for this as is Psalm 25, 27 or 91.
How have you strengthened your worship life as a Christian?

Thank you once again, Pastor J. This is so helpful and necessary. God bless you as you worship Him! For me, I like to write out my worship to Him sometimes and to make up my own songs, even if I have no musical ability. I’ve found that reading Christian blogs has helped strengthen my worship life, and listening to praise and worship songs a lot too! 🙂
The joyful noise of heartfelt worship is a particular love of the Lord’s. He loves to hear all His children raise up a song from their own hearts. Together it makes a beautiful symphony. Keep singing. Keep writing. Keep praising!
I like to sing praise and worship music, as well as, make up my own words. I can’t describe what I feel when I’m worshipping Him it’s like we’re the only ones in the room. It’s just amazing!!! I can’t thank you enough, Pastor J, for your blogs touch my heart so deeply, thank you.
Thanks, Pastor J 🙂
Great post!
I find my worship time is strengthened when I dance before Him. Singing is truly wonderful, but when my body joins the party, it seems to drag my heart and soul along with it. I so love those moments with Him.
@ Debbie – thankful for Christian blogs too. 🙂
@ Debby – Now you make me want to have another worship session right now 🙂
Blessings

I sometimes dance before the Lord but that is more to get my pride out of the way than anything else because admittedly it is not pretty…except to Jesus! I love all the suggestions that have been made here! It shows that worship is as varied as the creation God has made!

That sense that we are alone with the Lover of Our Souls is perhaps one of the most precious experiences in life isn’t it Deb?
Thanks, Pastor J 🙂
