Pastor Wrinkles Chapter Charts Pt. 43

In the hurry of the season, don’t forget to spend some time studying the Word that gives life!

The chapter charts are a perfect and quick way to get the word in deep! Give it a try.

Heaven Pt. 11

“And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able  to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.” Ge. 15:5

I believe God has made me for a great purpose. I knew it the moment I received Christ as Savior. I believe that every Christian has a transcendent purpose. We are supposed to live lives that are bigger than ourselves. But discovering that purpose is the trick isn’t it? I don’t know about you but God has never come down to me the way He came to Abram.  Yet that doesn’t mean He hasn’t revealed His purpose to me. He has just chosen a different way, a way which involves me intentionally seeking Him out. Here are Pastor J’s seven steps to discovering God’s purpose for your life:

1.  Realize it’s God’s purpose not yours: You don’t get to make the call on what you want to do with the rest of forever. You have surrendered your life that means you have to let God direct.

2. Realize Prayer is your primary means of communication and discovery:  Ask God to reveal His purposes. Spend some time listening. What crosses your mind as you wait in silence before God? Thoughts that go beyond your next meal or the current movie listing might just be from God. Consider them.

3.  Realize you are going to enjoy your God-given purpose: You are equipped with the necessary tools and temperament to accomplish God’s purpose. You will not hate God’s job for you.

4. Realize God will provide you with the opportunity: God knows we often need a signed invitation. So be looking for the open doors of ministry set before you. Try joining; At worst you are going to discover what God’s plan is not by committing short-term to something.

5. Realize you don’t have to totally sell out to the first work that comes along:  Sometimes to find God’s purpose you have to try  things that are not His purpose for the sake of clarification. I taught a Royal Rangers scouting program a couple of seasons. Each season was gloriously fruit-free except for the fact that I learned what not to do.

6. Realize God’s purpose is going to be too big: You can’t do it without God’s help.

7. When you find God’s purpose it will be great and terrible: I love the job God has given me to do. It came complete with a set of difficulties to navigate. Your God-purpose will be the same.

So what step are you on?

Heaven Pt. 10

“And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.” Ge. 15:5 KJV

In case you are just stepping into this series, we are meditating our way through the biblical verses about Heaven. I believe meditation should be an act that fills our minds with possibilities. When I meditate on a subject I should come away inspired and changed. I should be incited to some action by the thought I have had. We have all heard the statement “so heavenly minded they are of no earthly good.” Any meditation on Heaven should prove that statement a lie. Thinking about Heaven should motivate us to become more productive and useful in the here and now.

Yesterday I asked you a question: “What has your view of Heaven inspired you to do here on Earth? “

Do you realize God has a dream for your life? When He created you He made you complete with a transcendent purpose. You were made for big things. You were made to cooperate with a certain group of believers to create the building of His kingdom in your arena. You were born with a set of gifts that equipped you to accomplish the task He assigned you at birth. You were born with all this even before you believed!

So tell me what do you think happens if you don’t fulfill your purpose? Is that even possible?

Heaven Pt. 9

“And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.” Ge. 15:5 KJV

Heaven is a place of limitless possibilities. For the believer the promise of Heaven is not something we will someday get. The Kingdom of Heaven has come upon us; It is near to our hearts right now!

God told Abram to look into Heaven and to count the stars. He commanded the man to let the view of the cosmos inspire him to believe for big things on Earth.

Our thoughts of Heaven today should do the same thing. We are not supposed to sit around waiting to die so we can get eternal life! We are supposed to bring eternity down and start living it out in miraculous ways right now.

Let me ask you a serious question: What has your view of Heaven inspired you to do here on Earth? Go look at the stars and dream big!

Heaven Pt. 8

“Melchizedek blessed Abram with this blessing: ‘Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth’.” Ge. 14:19 NLT

We don’t know a whole lot about what the realm of Heaven looks like. Our own fallen Earth is breathtaking even in its broken state.

God has created such grandeur here as human artists can only emulate.

Here,  He shows himself to be a God of intricate detail. He cares about the smallest petal and the sweetest scent.

Yet

He shows his creativity in the beautiful fury of the storm-clouds. Mixing our hearts with wonder and fear as the lightning crashes.

He reveals himself in the snow.

And

in the warmth of a campfire. God made all of these things for us to enjoy here on Earth.

We may not know much about what Heaven looks like. We may have only fleeting glimpses and descriptions of the New Earth and the New Jerusalem that lie ahead for us; But we know the work of the Architect who has made them or shall make them all. We have seen His work with our eyes. I can only imagine the wonder…. But perhaps one glimpse of Jesus will make all the beauty of Heaven pale in comparison….Maybe I don’t long to go to Heaven at all. Maybe what I really want is to see the one who died and rose for me.

Pastor Wrinkles Chapter Charts Pt. 42

God wasted nothing when He gave us His Book. Not one word was out-of-place, in error or unimportant. Jesus thought so highly of the Scripture He actually said, “It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law.” Luke  16:17

That’s one of the reasons I do these chapter charts. We so easily push aside portions of Scripture because a cursory reading of them leaves us feeling they are really unimportant or useless; But if what Jesus said is true then there isn’t one chapter that doesn’t have something to speak to us. These chapter charts help me to find the importance in each chapter by digging below the surface.

Exodus  chapter 33 sermon topics/titles:

1. “The Show must Go!”: Exodus 33: 5,6

Pastor Wrinkles Chapter Charts Pt. 41

God has been speaking to me lately about the importance of journeys in our lives.  It is by our journeys through life that we grow closer to or farther away from God. Our travels are part of what makes us, us. We are schooled most in life through the experiences we have in sojourn. Every step has a lesson to teach.

Exodus is a book about journeys. As Israel wandered they were given lessons and by extension so were we. There is a wealth of wisdom in the paragraphs penned by Moses. What follows are the lessons I see in today’s chapters in Exodus.

Exodus chapter 31 sermon topics/ titles:

1. God’s art program: Exodus 31: 1-6

2. The Sabbath Sign: Exodus 31: 12- 17

3. Written For Remembrance: Exodus 31: 18

Exodus chapter 32 sermon topics/titles:

1.  The Work of Fear: Exodus 32: 1-6

2.  Preserving the Lord’s Testimony: Exodus 32:7-14

3.  Smashing Anger: Exodus 32:15-35

Now Your Try! 🙂
