Heaven Pt. 6

“And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so.” Ge. 1:14,15 KJV

God created the sun to warm and light the earth. In like manner He sent Jesus into the world to warm and light our hearts.

“In him (Jesus) was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. John 1:4,5 NIV

The promise of Heaven, at least one of them, is light.

As a young man I got rather heavily involved with the New Age. I read books about communicating with the spirits of the dead. I read books about ghosts and angels. I read about witches and psychics. I practiced projecting my spirit out of my body. I channeled ghosts and spoke with “angels”. I was in darkness and didn’t even know it.

But the light of the world somehow knew my name and He reached out to me. It all started when a school friend of mine named Nancy started sharing with me about Jesus. She gave me these books called “the WatchTower”. I read them and liked them.

Then one day I was helping one of my teachers set up the classroom before school. I told him I had been studying with the Jehovah’s Witnesses. I think he sighed and then he ushered me into the teacher’s lounge, sat me down and explained the way to Jesus. Further he told me that Nancy, my Witness friend, didn’t have the truth because she didn’t follow Scripture.

At the same time my mother (who is not a Christ follower) noticed I was exploring faith and arranged for my Uncle Tom ( a born again believer) to begin taking me to the Assembly of God church plant in our town.

Jesus shone into my life just like the sun. I didn’t bid Him to reveal the truth anymore than I ask the dawn to come. He just revealed it. The only thing I had to do was to stop hiding myself in the shadows and He did the rest.

My thoughts of Heaven are all wrapped up in the thoughts of salvation, eternal life, revelation of God and oh so much more.
